A paywithbitcoin branded cafe co-operative with a flexible operating model, allowing local independent owners (i.e. start-up bros) to work directly with freedom-tech enabled plantations in El Salvador, Colombia, India, etc.
The food & beverage market is competitive and a high percentage fail early. Therefore, the project should be in a position to fund the start-up capital costs, to de-risk owner-operators over the course of this experiment.
The current supply-heavy Commercial Real-estate market makes it possible to obtain 6-month leases on retail premises in many locations. Experiments could therefore be run as temporary pop-ups (with discounted premises rental), and continuation of successful locations.
Product features

- Bitcoin ATM located in each cafe (buy<£/$/€50 at 0%)
- Ark & Bolt12 only (i.e. scan QR first, then sats credit for each coin/note)
- Larger venues with a row of mini ATM’s between door and serving counter.
- Orders taken on touchscreens terminals with payment via Bolt 12 or Ark.
- Cash can be used, but no discounts.
- A row of screens shows video footage for each plantation corresponding to products sold.
- Dynamic data overlay (i.e. location, weather, altitude etc.).
- Live video-link to plantations during sunlight hours.
- Customer completes a Prism Payment, and immediately sees bitcoin credited to the screen of the corresponding plantation. (i.e. the plantation receives payment instantly)
- Range of health optimizing drinks, including Cacao, matcha, herb teas, fruit smoothies, protein shakes etc.
- Organic, non-GM, locally prepared food items.
Pret-a-manger and Black Sheep Coffee are good examples of high quality cafe aesthetic. Black Sheep is newer and much more funky, with a wider product range and touchscreen ordering terminals.
As of September 2025, Pret had 717 locations across 19 countries and territories, including 474 in the UK (369 of which were in London) and 67 in the United States.
