Local skate shops, bike shops, and snow gear shops… have for generations been the bulwarks of the communities that they serve. Often, one guy with a passion, a load of stock, and some young shop workers earning a few dollars to buy new gear for the new season. Sadly, they’re starting to suffer the same fate as local bookshops, as hedge-fund owned super-retailers ship cross-continent.
